ROADMAP

1982 •

I was born in the big metropolis of São Paulo, Brazil. My family came from Italy, so I am also an European citizen.

• 1988

I took my first steps at a Waldorf School, which is a German educational system, where kids are encouraged to try different art disciplines - like painting, woodwork, sculpture, theater, music, etc. So I have been in touch with my creativity since early childhood.

1993 •

Meanwhile, I was in love with videogames and computers. I have been always interested in math and abstract thinking. So I begin taking lessons about DOS, Windows and the brand new Microsoft Office suite. Photoshop was also a new passion. Games like Sonic, Doom and Super Mario were part of my inspiration. Soon I was creating my first virtual environments using the Duke Nukem 3D map editor.

Still in high school I got my first internship at Novacia, a producing company that makes (to this day) intitutional videos for banks, supermarket chains, publicity agencies, etc. I learned a lot about BETACAM/Mini-DV digital video and the Media 100 non-linear editing system. Also, made my first contact with Adobe After Effects. After a while, I was hired as jr. video editor and never stopped working anymore.

A few years later I went to study Digital Design for two years and learned a lot about art history, shades and lights, gestalt concepts, color theory, sound treatment, etc. I also dove deep into programming languages like HTML, PHP, Javascript, XML, Visual Basic, AppleScript and many more.

After college I made several websites, both the front end and the coding backbone, including Flash animations and sound effects. I also made several printing layouts for flyers, posters and DVD covers. But I was not satisfied. Everything was too static, I wanted to work with something more dynamic.

2007 •

So I decide to focus my career in video editing, and set out to make my name. For the next 15 years I worked at different video companies, making TV shows, advertisements, documentaries, institutionals, videoclips and much more.

One of my greatest passions was to create motion design screens like openings and endings, vignettes, info-graphics, pack shots, etc. I learned how to do motion tracking, rotoscopy, 3D projections and other techniques to enhance my skill set.

In 2014 I decided that I needed a broader knowledge of the field, and went back to college, taking a 4 years bachelors degree in Radio & TV Broadcasting, adding several new layers of understanding about the entertainment and the news industry. I kept working as a freelancer for several companies, doing my first international projects like Fishtronaut and Earth to Luna.

Meanwhile, in 2016, I started working as a video quality control inspector at Sofa Digital, the leading VOD aggregator in Latin America. Distributing movies to iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and Netflix world wide, the company delivers high quality packages that includes not only the feature, but also trailers, subtitles, dubbing, posters, and all the necessary assets to activate a product on those platforms.

For the last years I have been doing a careful analysis of many movies from all around the world, looking for issues of audio/video that can prevent a satisfying experience, and divert the viewer's attention. Files must be thoroughly analyzed to meet the highest quality standards required by Apple - which determines the format accepted by other platforms.

Pandemic strikes, but there is no time to waste. Still working full time (while the rest of the crew is doing home office), I decide to develop further my motion design skills, and spent some time creating new video concepts. Today I have processed more than 3,000 movies from all around the world, from small indie productions to Oscar winning movies. The Quality Control position is a very complex role that involves careful inspection of the files, including not only audio and video standards, but also content and language aspects.
